Strategic Plan
ASTA is an organization formed and directed
by its members as an effective voice of action in all matters concerning
the development, marketing and free movement of seed, associated
products and services throughout the world. This mission is supported
by the association's advocacy efforts regarding intellectual property
rights, regulatory and phytosanitary reform, and regulatory harmonization
worldwide in the seed sector.
To assure success of its mission, ASTA is guided by a comprehensive
strategic plan that details the opportunities, objectives and necessary
actions to meet the many challenges facing the seed industry now
and in the future.
ASTA has identified select areas of opportunity to achieve maximum
near-term benefits for its members. These Key Results Areas (KRAs)
are:
- Enhance ASTA's ability to address legislative
and regulatory issues at the state, national and international
levels, especially those related to intellectual property rights,
biotechnology, environment, liability and trade;
- Maintain current and develop new memberships; improve communications
with members and external publics;
- Provide education and information flow on the impact of new
technologies and business management practices; and
- Examine ASTA's organizational structure for changes needed to
accompany its established KRAs.
ASTA's detailed strategic plan is revisited on
a regular basis to make sure that the association is on track with
its goals and on par with the times.
