Day Trip to Ft. Collins, Colorado

Destination: Colorado State University to tour the National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation and All-America Selections flower trials.

The first of many exciting convention announcements, ASTA has partnered with the National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation to offer a behind-the-scenes tour of their facility in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Among its many functions, the lab features state-of-the-art germination chambers, purity equipment, and tetrazolium chambers, and the stores of the nation’s seeds for times of crisis. Nearby, the All-America Selections flower trials offer a display of the competitors for America’s most beautiful flowers of the year! This trip is complimentary for Annual Convention registrants.

 

Denver City Tour

Take a trip into the heart of the "Mile High City" on a Denver City Swing! Your tour begins with the downtown finance and business areas as well as the revitalized parts of "old" Denver which have been creatively combined with powerful skyscrapers. See the spectacular Colorado State Capitol Building, one of the “ooh and awe” sights in Denver. Enjoy riding through our lovely mansion areas and parks, including a drive by Millionaires’ Row. Catch a glimpse of the recently renovated lower downtown (LoDo), including a drive by the hot spot of Larimer Square. “Foothills Fandango ” Tour

Tours starts with brief stop at Dinosaur Ridge for a photo opportunity (bring your camera!) giving you a great souvenir to take home! Next, visit one of Colorado's most photographed and scenic sights, Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater, nestled amidst towering slabs of red sandstone rising hundreds of feet above you. This 8th wonder of the world has been the site of concerts, musical events and the Easter Sunrise services since the 1940’s. Dine for lunch at the venue’s Shiprock Grill and explore on a self-guided tour. Then, drive down Historic Main Street in Golden, Colorado en route to the infamous Coors Brewing Company. Get a close- up look on a typical day from ingredients to bottling at the Coors Brewery, the largest single facility beer producer in the country. Guests over 21 receive a complimentary glass of beer.
