AMSEED American Seed Intelligence Platform

About AMSeed

AMSeed is a seed intelligence platform: a database that publishes pages, not a website that stores articles. Every variety, disease, location, and organization here is a structured record with relationships to the others, and every quantitative claim traces to a named source. Where we do not know a number, the page shows a dash instead of a guess.

Today the database holds 510 varieties, 22 plant health issues, 79 growing locations, and 52 industry organizations, with the tomato vertical deepest. Coverage grows crop by crop, gated by data quality rather than page count.

Independence

AMSeed is an independent seed information and intelligence platform. It is not affiliated with the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA). This domain served as ASTA's website from 1996 to 2016; the association now operates at betterseed.org. Because decades of institutional citations still point at historical amseed.com URLs, we maintain an archive section that documents that history transparently and routes old references to modern, independently researched resources on the same subjects.

Data practices

Frost dates are medians from NOAA climate normals; zones follow the 2023 USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map; variety attributes are consensus values from the university and catalog sources cited on each page; disease resistance claims carry a source per claim. Planting windows are computed from crop rules and local frost data, and they are targets, not guarantees. Verify locally before betting a season on anything, ours included.

Corrections and data contributions are welcome; every page's sources are listed at the bottom precisely so they can be checked.
