Symptoms
Long grey-green cigar-shaped lesions running parallel with the leaf veins, starting on lower leaves and moving up. Lesions coalesce and grey off as they age.
Management
Both race-specific Ht genes and quantitative partial resistance are deployed against it, and the two behave differently under pressure: an Ht gene can be overcome by a matching race while partial resistance degrades gracefully. Rotation and residue management reduce the local inoculum that starts an epidemic.

This is the page where the difference matters most, because it is where a variety gets chosen for its resistance. Breeder declared means the claim comes from whoever breeds or sells the seed, which for most resistance genes is the only evidence that exists. Independently observed means an institution with no stake in the sale grew the plant and reported what happened.
