Symptoms
Sunken circular water-soaked craters on ripe fruit with dark centers and concentric rings, appearing as fruit hangs ripe in warm wet weather. The classic rot of dead-ripe fruit left on the vine.
Management
Harvest promptly at ripeness, mulch against soil splash, rotate away from solanums, and keep late-season protectant coverage on processing crops where fruit hangs. No meaningful varietal resistance; timing is the control.
Varieties with documented resistance
No commercial varieties in the database carry documented resistance to this issue, management is cultural and (for seedborne pathogens) starts with tested, certified seed.
