Cucumber Mosaic Virus
Cucumovirus CMV · virus · also: CMV
- Issue type
- disease
- Seedborne
- No
- Resistance code
- CMV
Symptoms
Narrow strap-like leaves, mosaic mottling, and ring patterns on fruit. One of the widest host ranges of any plant virus, which makes weed hosts a permanent reservoir.
Management
Weed management around field edges matters more than spraying, because dozens of aphid species transmit it non-persistently. Partial resistance exists in some pepper lines; complete resistance does not.
Varieties with documented resistance
No commercial varieties in the database carry documented resistance to this issue, management is cultural and (for seedborne pathogens) starts with tested, certified seed.
