Overview of Biotic Stresses in Pepper (Capsicum spp.): Sources of Genetic Resistance, Molecular Breeding and Genomics
Peer-reviewed review of resistance sources in Capsicum. Tabulates the two pathogen structures that pepper seed catalogs compress into single letters. Tobamoviruses are graded P0, P1, P1,2 and P1,2,3 by which L allele they defeat, with P1,2,3,4 emerging past L4; potyviruses split into PVY-0, PVY-1 and PVY-1,2 against the pvr2-eIF4E alleles, where pvr2-1 answers only PVY-0 and pvr2-2 answers PVY-0 and PVY-1 while both fall to PVY-1,2. Cited here for pathogen structure alone: it is a review of the literature on resistance sources, not an evaluation of any commercial variety, and nothing in it upgrades a claim about a named cultivar.
