NameKindNote
Hatch Shared name (ambiguous) Hatch is a valley in New Mexico, not a variety. Chile grown there is sold under the place name whatever cultivar it actually is.

These are different varieties. A name shared between them does not make them the same seed.

Origin & history

A re-selection of NuMex Big Jim made at the NMSU Chile Pepper Institute after decades of commercial seed drift had cost the original line its uniformity and much of its flavour. It is the same cultivar name restored, not a new variety, which is why the two must be kept apart in any seed record.
